This part of IEC 61300 specifies the test method for establishment if a fibre optic device is suitable to withstand temperature changes, that means in practice, very short changes of extreme temperatures. The standard provides manufacturers and test laboratories with security regarding the specification of the test and serves as a reference for quality assurance. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 412.7 "LWL-Verbindungstechnik und passive optische Komponenten" ("Fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive optical components") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
This document replaces DIN EN 61300-2-47 Berichtigung 1:2011-10 , DIN EN 61300-2-47:2011-05 .
