DIN EN IEC 60825-4:2025-09

This document from the IEC 60825 international series of standards defines requirements for laser guards, both active and passive, that permanently or temporarily enclose the process zone of a laser processing machine. The scope of this document applies to all component parts of a guard including clear (visibly transmitting) screens and viewing windows, panels, laser curtains and walls. This document deals exclusively with protection against the laser radiation itself. Other hazards that may result from material processing using laser radiation, such as secondary radiation, electrical and mechanical hazards, fumes, and so on, are not addressed. The standard differs from DIN EN 60825-4 (VDE 0837-4):2011-12 as follows: a) this edition includes significant changes and has been prepared with user practicality in mind. This document contains practical guidance on assessing the protective properties of a laser guard, as well as its selection, dimensioning, and design.
