Overview
This standard determines requirements for evidential reliability breath analyzers and for their construction. Furthermore, in this standard, terms are set, to be followed during the evidential breath alcohol analysis. This standard contains specifications on the measurand of the breath alcohol concentration, but no specifications on limit values for legal regulations, case law and administrative regulations. This standard does not apply to: Pre-testing devices for the determination of breath alcohol concentration (EN 15964), breath alcohol testing devices for general use (EN 16280), or alcohol interlocks (EN 50436 series of standards). The committee responsible is Subcommittee DKE/UK 966.2 "Atemalkohol-Messung" ("Alcohol interlocks") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Informational Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
