Overview

This Supplement 7 provides additional information for structures with potentially explosive atmospheres and supplements DIN EN IEC 62305-3 (VDE 0185-305-3). It contains information on the standard intended to improve its application and understanding and also takes new findings into consideration, but does not include any additional requirements. Lightning protection systems for gas and hydrogen supply facilities in Germany are described in DVGW Information GAS No. 17:2024-05 and thus are not considered in this Supplement. The manufacture, processing, and storage of explosives are dealt with in DIN EN IEC 62305-3 Supplement 2 (VDE 0185-305-3 Supplement 2) and are not part of this Supplement. Typical application examples for the document include pipeline shut-off stations, storage rooms for hazardous substances, biogas plants, electrolyzer plants, silo facilities and grain silos with potentially explosive atmospheres, as well as storage tanks containing flammable liquids.
