Overview

This standard deals with the safety of microwave ovens which are intended for household and similar use, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V. The standard contains two significant additions. Firstly, a detailed description of the glass breakage test has been created. Secondly, the specification, calibration and measurement procedure for microwave measuring equipment is described. In Annex BB a new warning has been included for the instructions for use for the use of microwave cooking equipment on board ships. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 511.2 "Herde und Mikrowellengeräte" ("Cooking ranges and microwave ovens") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
