This part of IEC 62481 specifies DLNA guidelines for DRM interoperability. The set of guidelines in this part is based on so-called DLNA DRM Interoperability Solutions (DIS), which are defined as methods to enable the secure transfer and use of protected commercial content among different implementations on network media devices. This content could be protected by different content protection technologies. In this standard they are referred to in short as DRMs. The guidelines are not intended to replace or disable other interoperability mechanisms already established, such as DLNA Link Protection guidelines stated in IEC 62481-3 or mechanisms provided by underlying DRMs. The committee responsible is DKE/K 742 "Audio-, Video- und Multimediasysteme, -geräte und -komponenten" of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
