The series of standards DIN EN 1555 is the German version of the series of standards EN 1555. It specifies the general requirements for piping systems made of polyethylene (PE) used for the supply of gaseous fuels and the test parameters for the test methods referenced in these standards. They are applicable to PE pipes, fittings, and valves, their joints and to joints with components of other materials intended to be used under a maximum operating pressure, MOP, up to and including 10 bar and an operating temperature of 20 °C as reference temperature. In addition, they cover specifications for maximum operating pressures and specify requirements concerning colours of piping parts and the use if additives. The first part covers the general requirements for piping systems. The second part covers in particular the pipes, the third part deals with the fittings and the fourth part addresses the valves. Part 5 of the standard specifies the necessary requirements for the fitness for purpose of the system including the resulting requirements for the joints of the individual components of the piping system. Part 7 (this part), published as a Technical Specification, gives guidance for the assessment of conformity of compounds, products, joints and assemblies in accordance with the applicable part(s) of EN 1555 intended to be included in the manufacturer's quality plan as part of the quality assurance system and for the establishment of certification procedures. The series of standards is directed at manufacturers, testing laboratories and users of piping systems made of polyethylene (PE). It has the character of a delivery standard. The standard covers in particular aspects of quality and product safety. The present standards are revisions of the standards from the year 2002. The European Standards have been prepared by CEN/TC 155 "Plastics piping systems and ducting systems", the secretariat of which is held by NEN (The Netherlands). The responsible German body involved is Working Committee NA 054-05-08 AA "Kunststoff-Rohrleitungssysteme für die Gasversorgung" ("Plastics piping systems for the supply of gaseous fuels") at DIN Standards Committee Plastics (FNK).
