Short description
Gerontotechnik means designing products, services and work places so that they are usable for all generations. In the planning phase man and his performance limitations are the focus to align the product to man's needs, desires and demands. The standard applies to products in development whose target group is not restricted, and basically all users, regardless of their age or their performance limitations, are to use the product. The standard includes new developments and innovations as well as product enhancements in the form of corrections, variants or further developments. Products in the context of this standard are consumer goods of all kinds, regardless of their use as consumer or capital goods. The standard is intended to entrepreneurs and decision-makers, product developers and construction engineers, designers, ergonomists and gerontologists, product managers, product designers and product managers, service providers and certifiers, universities and training institutions for politics, economics and science, and other interest groups. The standard provides information on using principles of Gerontotechnik in the product life cycle and defines criteria and methods for testing products on intergenerational applicability.
